Cycloidal Motion

  • Principle Illustrated: Rolling Motion


  • A piece of chalk is fastened to the outer circumference of a hoop.. The hoop is rolled across a chalk board. The chalk traces out a cycloid demonstrating zero velocity at the cusps.
